Eddie Murphy in "Beverly Hills Cop 2"

"His effect is dazzling. There's this ding when he walks on, almost like Marilyn Monroe." - John Landis, director.

Eddie Murphy was what People liked to call the "raunchiest trickster of the '80's " who threw the racism of the dirtyera back in its face with a lightheartedness that caused him to roll in the millions. His Saturday-Night-Live performances certainly paid off in the long run. In fact, they helped bring out the very uniqueness of the comedian that made him "Eddie Murphy". Films like "48 Hours" (1982), and "Beverly Hills Cop" (1984), helped soar him to stardom.

He faded into the background for a while, but in 1992 he had a marvelous comeback with the blockbuster, "Boomerang". Then, in 1996, "The Nutty Professor" earned not only appreciation and respect from mature fans, but from the adolescent youth everywhere as well! Other movies like 1988's "Coming To America", and 1987's "Eddie Murphy Raw", are solid proof that this man is more than just a black man from nowhere; he was a talented comedian who was destined to go somewhere!
