More About Jackie Chan...
Kong-sang Chan was born on April 7, 1954, a son of poor parents. To give their son a better chance in life, they apprenticed him to the China Drama Academy at the age of 6 years. Under vigorous discipline, Chan was rigorously schooled in music, dance, and traditional martial arts. His nicknames are Y´uen Lo and Sing Lung. Jackie started out as a stunt player, but soon graduated to bigger and bigger roles, finally becoming a stunt coordinator, which led to his being a director. Jackie was in several films with fellow China Drama Academy classmates, Biao Yuen and Sammo Hung Kam-Bo. His film, Shi di chu ma (1980) was a first of its kind, successfully blending martial arts with comedy. Many of his films excel at combining slapstick, action and martial arts. He is a big fan of Buster Keaton and Harold Lloyd. His first American -made movies were THE BIG BRAWL and CANNONBALL RUN. Other great Jackie Chan films include: MARVELOUS FISTS, LONG XIAO YE, TWO IN A BLACK BELT, QIJI, YATGO HO YAN, TE WU MI CHENG and BOR LEI JUN.
