Review: COLOSSUS: THE FORBIN PROJECT is an entertaining, if paranoid, Sci-Fi thriller. Eric Braeden, who starred in the 1960's WW2 series "The Rat Patrol", is impressive in the starring role of Forbin, the designer of Colossus. Susan Clark (TV's "Webster") offers strong support as Forbin's associate Cleo. She comes across as both smart and sexy, a combination few Hollywood actresses seem able to pull off. William Schallert, most famous as the father on the vintage TV series "The Patty Duke Show" scores well in a small role of U.S. Senator Grauber. The Screenplay by James Bridges and D.F. Jones is smart and thought provoking. Bridges was to score big a few years later with another smart movie, "The Paper Chase", which he directed. Art Directors Alexander Golitzer and John J. Lloyd deliver an impressive set representing the huge Colossus computer. Director of Photography Gene Polito lenses it to maximum advantage. The Music, by Michael Colombier, is strong and powerful. It effectively conveys a sense of the strength of the human spirit in the face of adversity. COLOSSUS: THE FORBIN PROJECT should be quite watchable for most Sci-Fi viewers. Computer owners may begin to wonder that their PC's are up to when they're not around COLOSSUS: THE FORBIN PROJECT. |
