Paul Lukas received his oscar for re-creating his Broadway role as the German engineer who becomes an underground leader who continues his anti-Nazi activities in the United States.

ABOUT PAUL LUKAS (1895 - 1971)

Hungarian leading actor who arrived in Hollywood in the late twenties. His real name was Pal Lukacs.

Paul Lukas occassionally acted on Broadway, including 1951's CALL ME MADAM with Ethel Merman.
