Distinguished British stage actor who started acting in films when he was in his late forties.

Alec Guinness was knighted, in 1958, by Queen Elizabeth in appreciation of his talents.

In 1979 Alec Guinness received an Honorary Award for advancing the art of screen acting through a host of memorable and distinguished performances.
