| Joseph Schildkraut (1895 - 1964) Schildkraut, a character actor was born in Vienna of a famous theatrical family ( his father was the great Rudolph) . Joseph Schildkraut was on the American stage since the early twenties and was in several Cecil B. DeMille films and also worked with D.W. Griffth. Joseph Schildkraut continued to work in films after sound, doing many westerns. One of his most memorable roles was that of Otto Frank in the 1959 The Diary of Anne Frank. Joseph Schildkraut appeared in many silents including: MY FATHER AND I THE ROAD TO YESTERDAY SHIPWRECKED YOUNG APRIL KING OF KINGS THE BLUE DANUBE His talkies include: CLEOPATRA THE CRUSADES THE GARDEN OF ALLAH SOULS AT SEA MARIE ANTOINETTE THE MAN IN THE IRON MASK THE RAINS CAME FLAME OF THE BARBARY COAST NORTHWEST OUTPOST OLD LOS ANGELES THE DIARY OF ANNE FRANK THE GREATEST STORY EVER TOLD |
