ABOUT JANET GAYNOR (1906 - 84) Her real name was Laura Gainer. During the twenties and thirties she was immensely popular in simple sentimental films, especially when teamed with Charles Farrell. Janet Gaynor was one of the few silent players who were able to survive sound, and she remained a major star for another decade.
